Chapter 1 Summary

     The Chapter begins with George and Lennie walking up to a lake.  As soon as Lennie sees the water he rushes over to the water and starts taking gaint gulps.  George scolds Lennie for drinking out of the water without checking to see if the water was safe to drink.

     - Lennie and George discuss their nest move

     - The reader learns that the two were running from a town called Weed because Lennie had ripped a girls red dress.

     - George realizes that Lennie has a dead mouse in his hands, Lennie tries to convince George that he found it dead and did not kill it. This is when the reader learns about Lennies infatuation with soft things he can pet.
